The world’s largest tech show is officially over for another year. We’re looking forward to trying out some of the fascinating new gadgets previewed at the event, but until then it’s time to sum up the best products we saw at CES 2018! We’ve handpicked a list of remarkable devices that stood out in the flickering lights of the Las Vegas Convention Centre. Here’s what caught our eye:
1. Lenovo Smart Display
Last year, Amazon took the lead in releasing the latest generation of smart speakers with the launch of Echo Show. At CES 2018, Google has finally caught up by collaborating with Lenovo to release the new Google Assistant smart display. Available in two sizes, the Lenovo Smart Display offers fast voice access to the weather, news, recipes, YouTube videos, video chats and more. Its Full HD screen makes the gadget a perfect personal photo album. Aside from its light and modern design, the smart speaker’s contextual support for YouTube is probably its most impressive feature – it’s able to find a video to demonstrate a cooking technique mid-recipe!
2. Razer Project Linda
Laptops are no longer boring with Razer’s Project Linda, an awesome dummy laptop powered by the new Razer Phone. While it is not a new idea to use a phone as the brains of a computer, Project Linda allows the Razer Phone to slot in and become a trackpad and second screen, instead of sitting in a dock. The prototype comes with a Quad HD 120Hz touchscreen, 200 GB of storage and a high-capacity battery that is powerful enough to charge the smartphone three times. We can’t wait to see the final version of the Razer prototype!
3. HTC Vive Pro VR Headset
With its distinctive room-scale setup, the HTC Vive was already the best VR headset on the market. Nevertheless, HTC still decides to make it even better by giving it a better looking display with 2880x1600p screen resolution, upgrading it by 78%. The new HTC Vive Pro also features built-in headphones and has improved significantly in ergonomics and comfort. Later this year, wireless adaptors will be available for Vive Pro owners to experience VR cable-free!
4. Sony AIBO
This year at CES, Sony’s robot dog AIBO is more intelligent, connected and nimble. Equipped with an on-board camera, this adorable companion is also a mobile webcam. Those ridiculous, unbelievably expressive OLED puppy dog eyes are simply irresistible! AIBO’s Wi-Fi and LTE connectivity enable it to function on the move. Sony’s new robot dog has successfully won us over. We’re expecting it to be the most popular consumer robot ever!
5. L’Oréal UV Sense
The L’Oreal UV Sense is a UV sensor that detects UV exposure and is small enough to be worn on your thumbnail. The battery-free sensor stores up to three months of data. Hold it close to your smartphone and the gadget will send information to the accompanying app that monitors your exposure level, and offers tips for managing sun intake. L’Oreal collaborated with designer and entrepreneur Yves Béhar on the product, which explains why it looks like the perfect piece of nail art! Undeniably, the L’Oreal UV Sense plays a key role in influencing micro-wearable technology that may revolutionise the world.
That’s it for now – the top products we saw at CES 2018! *Excitement* While it’s easy to become overwhelmed at CES, the above products have kept us interested. From concept computers to artificial intelligence, this year’s CES has turned out to be quite a show.
