CES has built up the hype and promised the wonders of 5G data network for the last few years now but 2020 will be the year when all of it materialises. While the launch of Apple’s 5G enabled iPhone is still a speculation, various other 5G devices are expected to be released at CES 2020. With several carriers rolling out 5G across US, Europe and Asia, many gadgets and devices supporting 5G network are expected to be on display including smartphones, smartwatches, laptops, tablets and more.
Amazon’s Alexa and other assistant devices
CES 2019 was big on smart assistant devices. With CES 2020 also showcasing new and improved Amazon’s Alexa Echo and Google’s Home devices, it’s safe to say that interest in assistant devices doesn’t seem to be fading any time soon. Many third-party devices with the aforementioned assistants built-in are also expected to be displayed at CES 2020.
8K TVs and home electronics
TVs have always dominated CES. This year, a tough competition is anticipated between OLED and QLED TVs. Samsung is already offering a lineup of 8K TVs while LG unveiled its OLED rollable TV last year. CES 2020 will be witnessing some more 8K models, 100”+ display sizes, revolutionary OLED designs and microLED and miniLED concepts. Smart connectivity is also something that will be focused on at CES 2020.
In addition to TVs, other consumer electronics including fridges, vacuum cleaners, ovens and more will also be showcased. All these appliances are expected to be operating on the Internet of Things (IoT) technology.
PC and gaming
The world-renowned chipmaker, AMD, is expected to up its game. After announcing its 7-nanometer processors for PCs and servers last year and proving it has the juice to best Intel processors, AMD might unveil its next-generation high-end GPUs at CES 2020.
Intel is less likely to announce any new CPUs, however, it might announce its plans for big data, artificial intelligence and much more. CES 2019 saw the release of GeForce RTX Mobility graphics and other cards by Nvidia for gaming laptops. We can expect the same for CES 2020. We are also waiting for Lenovo, MSI, Dell and HP to reveal something exciting this year.
Given the rising popularity of smartwatches, wrist bands, and hearables like Apple Airpods, CES 2020 is guaranteed to display a mind-blowing variety of wearable devices. Other competitive products akin to Apple Airpods are also expected to make an appearance at CES 2020. Since many companies are inclining towards making their wearable worthy for fitness enthusiasts, they will be adding health tracking capabilities to these devices.
In addition to showcasing concept-pushing gadgets, innovative devices and exciting consumer electronics, CES 2020 will also host several conferences covering the categories of health and beauty, education, self-driving vehicles, AR and VR, cryptocurrency and even government policies. A special mini-exhibition titled Unveiled will allow smaller companies and start-ups to interact with media and announce any big news they might have.
