NVIDIA has announced its super-fast Mellanox 400G InfiniBand which is expected to take AI and supercomputing to the next level. The next generation is going to meet the continuously growing computing demands of scientific researchers and AI developers.
How Mellanox 400G InfiniBand will help
The Mellanox InfiniBand is the 7th generation product which will provide ultra-low latency to the users. Through NVIDIA’s new In-Network Computing engines, it will add additional acceleration and at the same time, will double the data throughput with NDR 400Gb/s.
The Mellanox 400G InfiniBand will accelerate the research work in fields like genomics, climate research and drug discovery. This in-network computing platform is the only fully offloadable program in the world which is expected to deliver a dramatic leap in performance.
A little About Nvidia Mellanox 400G InfiniBand
The latest statement by NVIDIA on Mellanox 400G InfiniBand means this is the most robust solution for AI supercomputing right now. It will improve the AI acceleration power up to 32 times and will boost the switch port density by three times.
Moreover, the Mellanox InfiniBand will raise the switch system aggregated bi-directional throughput. The value will surge up to 1.64 petabits/sec which is five times higher. In layman’s term, this will eliminate the constraints that supercomputers face to run larger workloads.
The expected aggregated bi-directional throughput that modular switches can carry is five times higher (1.64 petabits/sec). On the other hand, the Edge switches present on the Mellanox InfiniBand architecture can carry the throughput of 51.2Tb/s with more than 6.65bn packets per second. This is significantly quicker and much faster speed than the last generation.
For AI workloads, offloading operations are the most crucial tasks, which now will be pushed with higher AI acceleration power. NVIDIA’s Mellanox Sharp technology (3rd generation) offloads and accelerates deep learning training 32 times higher with the help of the InfiniBand network. The process will combine the NVIDIA Mellanox 400G InfiniBand with the NVIDIA Magnum IO software stack. In turn, this accelerated scientific computing will help scientists and AI developers in research.
