Focusing on people’s needs and demands laptop manufacturers are evolving laptops so they can offer more to their customers. Hybrid and flexible machines are ruling the tech market because of their tendency to do more. Lenovo having Yoga range at its disposal has successfully made a big name in the world of hybrid computers. Recently Lenovo has launched its ThinkPad Yoga 14 which is a combination of typical work machine and a convertible laptop. It is designed to give you a rounded experience of more productivity and better entertainment. Let’s review its design and features to reveal its benchmarks and flaws.
Design
Starting over with its design lets first focus on its classic body made up of magnesium and curved plastic. The lid is made up of magnesium whereas rest of the laptop is made of solid plastic. It is a perfect combination of Yoga’s flexibility and ThinkPad’s sturdy design. In ThinkPad Yoga 14 Lenovo has taken ThinkPad’s AccuType keyboard, touchpad and the red pointing stick. It comes featuring a lift n lock keyboard which automatically turns into a flat plane whenever users fold back the screen.
Like other Yoga products this machine also has metal hinges which enables you to flip it backward to 360 degrees and enjoy it in multiple modes. So stay more productive with its laptop mode, enjoy favourite movies in stand mode whereas take most out of your gaming with the tablet mode.
Slim and Light
Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 14 is lighter than most of the other 14 inched laptops. Weighing just 4.2 pounds you can easily carry it around. It was rumored that with metal highness and magnesium body we will have to hold on some extra pounds but actually this laptop is even lighter than full plastic body laptops. Having a thickness of just 0.8-inches you get an ultra-slim machine. But Lenovo has offered us this slim design at this cost of optical drive.
Performance
We all know Lenovo never ditch us in terms of performance. With 1.7GHz Intel Core i5-4210U processor you can fly through all your business tasks. Combining 8GB DDR3L RAM and 1TB HDD with Nvidia GeForce GT 840M graphics this device will surely not disappoint gamers as well. Unlike its competitors, Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 14 is the only laptop that houses a dedicated graphic chip. Dedicated Nvidia GT 840M gives you a fluid streaming of 4K YouTube video plus it smoothly runs graphically intensive applications.
Featuring a 14.0-inch IPS LED Backlit display with 1,920 x 1,080 resolution it brings life to your media. From favourite movies to documentaries everything can be enjoyed at its best. In order to enhance your usability Lenovo has offered a plethora of connectivity options. From USB 3.0 ports to HDMI to 4-in-1 card reader, everything works to give you a better user experience. Whereas Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 and Bluetooth 4.0 lets you enjoy wireless connectivity.
Battery Life
All those who were looking for a long battery life will be disappointed by its battery timing. By doing several tasks at a time and with high brightness, ThinkPad Yoga 14 offers you a battery life of almost 4 hours. However if you turn off the keyboard’s backlight and takes brightness level to 75% you may got around 45 minutes more. The biggest flaw in this laptop is that when we hold it from its front left corner, the laptop immediately turns off. It occurs due to misaligned battery cut off switch.
Verdict
Apart from its battery issues, Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 14 is no doubt an excellent machine for both work and play. Featuring all the latest and most advanced features it is ready to offer us an experience we always wished for. It is much better than other such kinds of laptops manufactured by other brands like HP and Acer.
